The substrate height was critical as it ties into the new hotel, hotel restroom rough-ins, elevator cabs, and the existing casino.
To accomplish this task, we started with a 1” depression allowing for a self-leveling underlayment to be used to gain the tight substrate tolerance required for such a large tile.
The most notable challenges of this project would be the coordination component, taking architectural renderings of the 5,000 sf lobby floor and producing a 100% custom, water jetted assembly of 61”圆1”圆mm tiles with an accent tile flowing through the floor mimicking natural stone veining in both design and finish. In total we have just under 60,000 sf of tile comprised of 29 different styles and colors throughout the project, 7,500sf of which being thin porcelain. After years of planning, the 156-room hotel broke ground and rose to completion. Red Hawk is an entertainment staple in the Sacramento area.
